Trains and buses
Public transport in Copenhagen is comfortable, efficient and safe. The Copenhagen Transport Authority (Movia) issues special discounted travel cards, Travel Passes, for delegates of larger congresses and meetings. These cards can be used on the metro, the buses as well as trains in the Greater Copenhagen Area. The use of public transportation and collective transport are an important factor in the effort to reduce Co2 emissions.
The Metro is a fast and easy way to get around. It´s fully automated trains link Copenhagen's urban areas with the city centre effectively. The Metro operates around the clock and during peak hours trains run every 90 seconds.Copenhagen's Metro has in 2008 been awarded the title of "The World's Best Metro" beating the Metro's of Madrid, Singapore and London!
S-Trains
The red S-trains will take you to, from and around Copenhagen and most of North Sealand from approximately 05:00 - 00:30 during weekdays. After Friday and Saturday the trains run once an hour during the night. In city centre they run once every half hour due to the amount of train lines passing through central Copenhagen.
Bicycles
Copenhagen is known for being the "City of Cyclists". This is due to its longstanding and lively cycling tradition with a cycle track network of some 300 kms. - and in recent years, its City Bikes. With the City Bike, citizens and visitors alike can take a free ride in the city centre. Put a 20 kr. coin into the lock and when you return the bike to any City Bike rack you will get your money back. Bicycle taxis are also available and are a great way to experience the city centre when travelling short distances.
Walking
Copenhagen was the first city to introduce pedestrian streets and many visitors find walking an enjoyable and relaxed way of getting around. Most attractions, hotels and meeting facilities in the city centre are located close to each other making walking an attractive option.
Taxi and car rental
If you should prefer to get around by car you will find numerous car rental firms in the city centre as well as at the airport. Most of them are familiar international companies. Taxis in Copenhagen are comfortable and clean and generally easy to hail. All taxis are clearly licensed and operate at fixed mileage rates depending on the time of day. Most of them accept all major credit cards.
Private coaches
Bus transport is in some cases the most convenient way of transporting your group from hotels to incentive or gala venues. Or you might have a VIP guest arriving who needs special treatment. In Copenhagen there are several professional coach and limousine companies offering logistic solutions.
