Copenhagen number 5 on New York Times' Top Destinations 2010

Print | Share

Copenhagen is ranked number five on The New York Times' list of places to go in 2010. The Danish capital is - according to the trendsetting American newspaper - one of the world's greenest and maybe coolest cities.

Copenhagen is among the top five destinations to visit this year. That is if you ask The New York Times. Copenhagen has entered at number five on the newspaper's list of 31 must see places in 2010.

In the aftermath of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 15 in December 2009 in Copenhagen, the impression left seems to be that "the Danish capital has already emerged as one of the world's greenest - and maybe coolest - cities."

cykel groenCopenhagen walks the talk
Green Copenhagen's many kilometres of bicycle paths and its free city bikes available to locals and tourists alike as well as the clean waters in the public harbour baths lead The New York Times to the conclusion that "Copenhageners don't simply preach the 'progressive city' ethos, they live it."

On the cool side of life, the American daily highlights the edgy and multicultural area of Nørrebro:

"A heady mix of hipsters, students and immigrants mingle in the cafes and galleries around the district's focal square, Sankt Hans Torv, and the city's young and excitable night owls can be found dancing in local clubs until the early hours," writes Benji Lanyado for The New York Times.
