IMD ranks Denmark 2nd in sustainable development

02 Jan 2012

Under the heading “A war against short-termism”, the IMD World Competitiveness Center ranks Denmark second in sustainable global development, only beaten by Korea.

If environmental pollution, climate change and depletion of resources are considered the disease, sustainable development is emerging as the cure. Contemporary business literature is increasingly moving from viewing sustainability as a strategy for the environment and society to emphasising it as a measure for achieving competitive gains without compromising future competitiveness.

- Denmark’s political commitment and Danish companies’ innovative, technological capabilities are key for our ability to create sustainable development. Building beneficial framework conditions, developing clusters and attracting international talent are some of our most important weapons in maintaining this strong position, says Claus Lønborg, Managing Director of Copenhagen Capacity.
