Copenhagen's Metro voted world's best

Beating the Metro systems of Madrid, Singapore and even London, the Copenhagen Metro has been awarded the title of "The World's Best Metro". The award show, which took place 2 April 2008, was part of the Metrorail 2008 Conference in Copenhagen.

Copenhagen's Metro has been voted the world's best at the Metrorail 2008 Conference in Copenhagen 2 April. The jury consisted of transport specialists from all over the globe. Among the reasons for the decision were Copenhagen Metro's high stability, passenger satisfaction and security.

The Metro opened a new stretch at the end of last year, connecting Copenhagen Airport with the city centre. The journey takes less than 15 minutes, and the fast adaption of the new stretch was another reason for the title.

The Copenhagen Metro was inaugurated in October 2002 and is one of the newest metro systems in the world. Last year 40 million passengers used the Metro.
