Copenhagen Catwalk 29-31 March: Fashion Shows for Everybody
Fans of fashion will now have the opportunity to see spectacular fashion shows normally reserved for invites only. From 29-31 March Wonderful Copenhagen in association with Danish Fashion Institute introduce: Copenhagen Catwalk. Here, the public can experience a range of leading Danish designers presenting their spring/summer collections.
Copenhagen has presented fashion shows of the highest quality for a long time, but they have been closed events for the fashion industry. Fashion shows are usually shown to the public through a brief television spot or glossy pictures in fashion magazines. Copenhagen Catwalk is about to change this by presenting eight fashion shows in Pressen (The Press) at Politikens Hus.
- Copenhagen Catwalk opens the doors to the fashion world, so fans of fashion can finally experience a professional show. It's all presented by professional models on the catwalk at an admission fee of DKK 75, says Martin Bender, head of events at Wonderful Copenhagen.
The eight fashion shows take place on Thursday and Friday 29-30 March, and they present leading Danish designers. Bruuns Bazaar, hummel and Munthe plus Simonsen are among the many to be shown in unique surroundings, which, over a period of 100 years, were used for the printing of the daily newspaper Politiken.
- Some of our best designers show their spring/summer collections. Uffe Buchard and Kim Grenaa the duo from Style Counsel is producing the shows, which means that the audience can expect the same high level fashion experience as during Copenhagen Fashion Week, says Eva Kruse, head of Danish Fashion Institute.
Contrary to usual fashion shows, the audience does not have to wait six months before seeing the clothes in retail shops. It's already available when models are presenting it on the catwalk. Apart from fashion shows, Copenhagen Catwalk offers a string of downtown events. Thursday 29 March female customers will be pampered at the shopping centre Magasin under the headline "Girl's Night Out", and on Saturday 31 March DSB WildCard (Danish Railways) will host a fashion event, which has not been disclosed. Programme will be updated regularly and made available at: www.copenhagencatwalk.com. Tickets for the shows are on sale from the beginning of March.
Copenhagen Catwalk is arranged by Wonderful Copenhagen in association with Danish Fashion Institute, DSB WildCard, KCC, Magasin and Politiken.
