Music festivals 2007
This summer Copenhagen is one big on-going party with four major music festivals taking place, from Copenhagen Distortion, Roskilde Festival and Copenhagen Jazz Festival to Public Service. Whether you fancy heavy metal, rock, indie, hip hop, jazz or electronic, Copenhagen has got it!
Copenhagen Distortion: May 30-June 3
Distortion is a series of mobile parties held during five crazy days every year in June since 1998. The underground music and party festival attracts up to 2,200 people per party, and there are usually between 21 and 37 parties going on in all corners of the city. This year's line up will be announced on May 15, but expect a blend of art, music, fashion, food and whatever rocks in urban Copenhagen, like bars, backyards, boats, bridges, busses and bungalows. Furthermore, Distortion is known for throwing the wildest party ever seen in Copenhagen, called the Final Party. It lasts for more than 24 hours.

Roskilde Festival - An unequalled musical buffet: July 5-8
Roskilde Festival is Northern Europe's biggest festival with almost 100,000 party people from all over the world. The scene is set for four fabulous days with rock, pop, soul, R & B, electronic and hip hop. 2007 is a year with new experiments and new artists, but there is also room for a couple of welcome revisits. 168 acts are on this year's programme, and 100 of them are new. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Björk, The Who, Muse, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx and Danish acts Nephew, Volbeat and Oh No Ono are all taking over the stage during the festival period. The party in Roskilde starts with a warm-up from July 1.

29th Copenhagen Jazz Festival: July 6-15
The Copenhagen Jazz Festival is one of the great musical celebrations of Copenhagen's cultural calendar, taking place each year in early July. Shifting freely from happy New Orleans jazz to cutting-edge jazz-electronica, the 10-day-long festival offers nearly 100 concerts daily, taking place just about anywhere; from small dusty venues to parks, pedestrian areas, boats or jazz-institutions, featuring anything from local hard-core experimentalists to international legends. In connection with Copenhagen's 29th Jazz Festival the Old Stage at the Royal Theatre will be one of the main venues for performances by great world stars. Five concerts - with Joshua Redman Trio + Kenny Garrett Quartet, Jan Garbarek Group, Bajofondo Tangoclub, Eliane Elias Group and Zawinul Syndicate - will take place at this untraditional jazz music venue.

Public Service: 3rd week in August
Public Service is one of the absolute leading festivals for electronic music in the Nordic countries. The festival presents new as well as established electronic acts from all over the Nordic region ranging from the aggressive to the elegant; from the heavy beats of the nightclub to sophisticated tonal art. Public Service takes place every year in the third week of August, and has a broad target group. The festival contains a range of different activities so that the curious family with children as well as the dedicated night owl can derive equally from the events. A broad selection of electronic concerts take place in different venues all over Copenhagen during the week, functioning as a lead-in to the weekend where more than 40 concerts with a wide Scandinavian scope are usually lined up. Programme soon to be released.
