The Royal Danish Life Guards celebrate their 350 years' anniversary

The Royal Danish Life Guards will open their gates to the public on 26-30 June 2008 to celebrate their 350 years' anniversary. At this occasion, the programme will offer traditions, attendance by the royal family as well as surprises.

The preparations for the anniversary are at full speed. The programme includes Rosenborg Tattoo, the largest military tattoo in Denmark, which will be situated directly in front of Rosenborg Castle, the historic residence of the Royal House of Denmark. Also, the programme will offer a unique Anniversary Concert in Tivoli Gardens' Concert Hall with the Royal Danish Life Guards' Military Band and the Royal Danish Life Guards' Drums Corps accompanied by well-known soloists. The anniversary, on 30 June 2008, will be celebrated by a spectacular parade through the streets of Copenhagen and a gala dinner, which will be honoured by the presence of members of the royal family.

In Denmark as well as abroad, the Royal Danish Life Guards are probably best known for their guards' duty at Amalienborg Palace, the current residential palace of HM the Queen and the Royal House, where visitors may see the guardsmen in their characteristic uniforms and bear skin caps. The Royal Danish Life Guards are a part of the traditions and significant events of the Royal House and as such, the Royal Danish Life Guards represent an important part of all Danes' national pride. Along with the poet Hans Christian Andersen and The little Mermaid statuette in Copenhagen, the Royal Danish Life Guards are symbols of the best of the Danish cultural heritage.
