Opening hours

Opening hours are at the discretion of proprietors. But certain rules must be followed:

Monday-Friday from 09.30/10.00 to 17.30/18.00/19.00 (9.30/10 am - 5.30/6/7 pm)
Saturday from 09.00 to 15.00/16.00 (9 am - 3/4 pm)
Sunday bakeries, florists and souvenir shops are open. In 2005 the laws regarding opening hours for shops were eased resulting in a growing number of shops choosing to stay open over weekends.

Open on Sundays
Regarding permission to stay open on Sundays in general, shops have been granted up to 23 Sundays during the year on which they are allowed to stay open.

The following Sundays have been decided for 2008 (in general the first Sunday of every month):

6 January
3 February
2 March
6 April
4 May
1 June
6 July
3 August
7 September
5 October
2 & 30 November
7, 14 & 21 December (the last Sundays before Christmas)

Office hours
are usually 09.00 to 16.00/16.30 from Monday to Friday (9 a.m. - 4/4.30 p.m.)

Shopping after hours
Outside ordinary shopping hours various kiosks around town are open for sale of tobacco, newspapers and sweets.
In addition, shops at the Central Station (Hovedbanegården) are open until late in the evening as well as on Sundays.
